buttons in personality quiz

I have a personality quiz that has been implemented/embedded in both a WordPress blog and a proper website. For some reason, the 'buttons' to choose an answer have become an issue: they can only be selected over the outside edges. This happens also when I am trying to edit or view the content in Lumi. Does anyone know what might have gone wrong, or at least how I might fix it?
I did not build the quiz myself, that was a former colleague, so I am hoping not to have to reconstruct the whole thing again!

Actually, I can't any more. It was getting super troublesome for our users so I rebuilt the whole personality quiz. The new one is here: https://www.hul.uni-hamburg.de/en/schreibzentrum/schreibberatung/writing...
in case it helps anyone else: the buttons to choose from no longer worked properly: one could select only by clicking on the very outer edges of the button.
