H5P provides an ever growing number of content types. Think of them as templates for creating content. To use a content type you only need access to a web site where H5P has been installed and a modern web browser.

how to see content of a .h5p file

hi,

is there a way to see what the .h5p file's content is, if it is given by somebody? would we need instance of wordpress/drupal to see the contents?

Hi,

The .h5p file is in essence just an archive file structure in a specific manner, in order to view the content you can extract the .h5p file, or rename it to an archive extensions (.zip) and extract it.

If you're talking about seeing the actual H5P, you would have to upload the file to a wordpress/drupal/moodle server first.

Joining multiple content pages together to create a learning obj

Hi Luv the H5p moodle install. The content pages are straight forward to use and the integration is great, however I wanted to join multiple content pages to make a learning object and this does not seem possible? I have made an example of each content type but can't find a way to make them one h5p package to upload to moodle. Can this be done or do we ahve to have multiple H5ps or use the embed code into moodle quiz pages?

Joining multiple content pages together

Hi, a new content type called 'Column' is going to be available in the next release that will allow you to chain other content types together.

This will allow you to bundle a number of H5P content types together and export them in a single package.

You can choose to receive an email when the next release comes out by editing your profile on h5p.test.schulcloud-thueringen.de.

Columns in the Moodle install

I see columns is now out in the latest release. I install the latest moodle version but columns does not appear to be an option? Is this going to be an option in moodle or are we going to have to create online and embed?

that did the trick nicely. Wondering if there is a way or if it is being developed so that pagination can occur for column. Then when creating a learning object they wouldn't all be on the same page.

Hi Scott,

I'm glad that you got column installed!

Creating pagination for Column isn't something that the Core Team is planning to do any time soon but since everything is open source, it could easily be done if you had access to a developer/development resources. You could also create a post in the feature request forum and hope that someone from the community picks it up.

I really enjoyed using this. I am an instructor and a designer. I have two questions.

It's good to hear that you are enjoying using H5P.

1. I would assume that you are exclusively creating your contents in h5p.test.schulcloud-thueringen.de. Having said that you don't need to worry, we do not routinely delete contents in the site. Furthermore there are measures in place to make sure that there are backups for all the data.

2. Several platforms that H5P currently does not support including Canvas, but that soon will be supported through H5P.com. H5P.com will also integrate third party software to offer support for large videos, math, analytics and storing results in the LMSs.

I don't have any experience using Blackboard but if there is a way to insert rich text this is possible. All you need to do is to retrieve the embed code that H5P provides by clicking on the embed button at the bottom of the content. Once you have the code just insert it in the rich text area in Blackboard.

Yes and no. No because Powerpoint is not a browser and does not understand html codes. Yes it is possible but you would have to install an add-in that let's Powerpoint use HTML codes (although I'm not sure which one is reliable). Once installed you can use the embed code built in to every content.

Updating H5P pluging

How do I update a pluging if I get the following message

Validating h5p package failed.

The system was unable to install the Course Presentation component from the package, it requires a newer version of the H5P plugin. This site is currently running version 1.20, whereas the required version is 1.23 or higher. You should consider upgrading and then try again.

but H5P does not give me an access to an updatable version of the plugin?

moodle, drupal, wrodpress all are platforms here. In that we can create an account and our own site

there we can add h5p plugin and can create h5p content and edit.

To provide a best possible experience for new users and to ensure that people use h5p.test.schulcloud-thueringen.de only for trying out H5P (we've had more traffic than our server can handle lately, ref also the warnings when you create content, embed content and view the content) we are experimenting with which content types should be available here.

Check the getting started page for information on how you can use all the content types and use H5P for real. We unfortunately are not able to provide free hosting, only free software :) Hopefully you'll consider supporting the H5P Core Team by using H5P.com.

Memory usage

Hi ,

First of all ,It is an amazing program and makes many other paid software obsolete.

I have installed the WordPress plugin and everything was working perfectly.

Suddenly my website started showing a database connection error. After logging in to my Cpanel, very high memory usage was seen. The memory limit is already increased to 128mb in htaccess file. As soon as I deactivated the plugin, everything became normal. Tried this twice with same result. Any suggestions on this.

Use HP5 software in stand-alone version

Good evening I registered on VS site to be able to create grammar exercises , but it is not possible to download them unless after further registration.

There is no stand alone version that is usable without having a site or leaning on a platform such as moodle; it must be used only as a plugin.

I look forward to your kind feedback.
